The pedalling – here and in the entire middle section except for bar 35 – was added by Chopin most probably in the proofreading of FE. Cf. bars 34, 39-40, 42, 59-60, 62, 79-80 and 82.
Providing exactly these chords with pedal was undoubtedly related to their span – sustaining all elements of the chord may be infeasible for an average hand, which requires pedal in order to maintain the sound of the bass notes.
