Pedalling

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

According to us, the earlier pedal release than in similar situations may be a result of Chopin's mistake, who, while introducing the pedalling, most probably in the already finished pitch and rhythm text, only saw the change of the chord and did not check its sound. Therefore, in the main text we suggest a variant solution. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Inaccuracies in GE , GE revisions |

Taking into account analogous bar 44, the later pedal depression in FE has to be considered as an inaccuracy. It is hard to assume to whom it could be ascribed and what could have provoked it. category imprint: Differences between sources |

The missing pedalling in EE must be an oversight. It cannot be excluded that it was Chopin himself that overlooked the base text to EE, completing the pedalling markings in this bar (in FC one can see that in bars 46-47 they were added by Chopin). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE , Authentic corrections of FC |

These kind of figures in the L.H. are consistently provided with pedalling in the entire Etude. In this situation, lack of indications in this bar must be considered as Chopin's oversight. category imprint: Editorial revisions |
