b. 4

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

No fingering in FC (→GE) & EE

Fingering in FE

..

The fingering under the first three semiquavers in the bar was added by Chopin most probably at the time of proofreading FE.

b. 4

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

No fingering in FC (→GE) & EE1

Fingering in FE & EE2 (→EE3)

..

Chopin added the fingering digit over the last semiquaver probably in the proofreading of FE. The same digit added in EE2 (→EE3) is most probably an editorial revision, introduced probably on the basis of FE.

b. 4-9

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

No slurs in FC (→GE1), FE & EE

Slurs in GE2 (→GE3)

..

In the main text we give the slurs of the L.H. at the transition between bars 4-5 and 8-9, in spite of the fact that they are absent in the sources which may convey Chopin's notation (FC, FE and EE1). Comparison with analogous places in the further section of the Etude proves that it is most probably an inaccuracy of notation.

b. 4

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

..

In front of a1, the bottom note of the 4th third, all sources include . The sign is totally unjustified in this place (we omit it in the main text), however, it reveals Chopin's doubt, as far as the notation of the a/a note in the Gkey is concerned (cf. the note to bar 7).

b. 5

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

..

In FE (→GE1) the last two semiquavers in these bars were erroneously copied from the next group (the 3rd and 4th semiquaver in bar 6). The mistake was corrected in GE2 (→GE3).
