Issues : Authentic corrections of FE

b. 95-96

composition: Op. 26 No 2, Polonaise in E♭ minor

Dots & slur from bar 96 in A

Slur from bar 95 in FE (→GE)

Dots & slur from bar 95 in EE

..

In the main text we give the longer slur with which Chopin replaced staccato dots and the shorter slur of A in the proofreading of FE1. He introduced similar changes in almost all analogous places. The version of EE is a result of misunderstanding of the quite inaccurately performed correction of FE (the removed dots remained partially visible there).

b. 103-104

composition: Op. 26 No 2, Polonaise in E♭ minor

Single notes in A (→FE1GE)

Octaves in FE2 (→EE)

..

The bass line led with single notes is the original version, changed by Chopin in the proofreading of FE2 (→EE). The proofreading proves that the introduced in many later collective editions change of the 1st octave in bar 103 from F1−F to G1−G cannot correspond to Chopin's intention.
