Fingering in EE

Our suggestion

..

In the main text we give the 3rd finger written in FED at the beginning of the next bar. Chopin's fingering in the previous bar, which also applies here, indicates that the sustained note should be performed with the 3rd finger from the beginning. The use of the 3rd finger was also indicated here by Fontana in EE.

Fingering written into FED

Fingering in EE

..

In the main text we give the fingering written by Chopin in FED. However, it is unclear how it is to be understood, as it differs from the fingering of similar figures in bar 25. In EE Fontana added a fingering modelled on Chopin's indications in bar 25.

Fingering in EE

..

In the main text we consider the fingering written in FED, in spite of the fact that – similarly as in the previous bars – it is unclear how to complete them. The indications added by Fontana in EE are more detailed and they partially indicate a different fingering. Two numerals, determining the 4th and 3rd fingers over the 13th and 14th semiquavers in bar 30, are most probably swapped.

No slurs in AI

Two slurs in FE (→EE,GE1GE1a)

Three slurs in GE2, GE4 (→GE5) & EE3 (→EE4)

Two slurs in GE3

..

Lack of the slur in bar 30 in FE (→EE2,GE1GE1a) must be regarded an inaccuracy, presumably an oversight of the engraver – slurs encompass remaining similar motives in the discussed bars. The lack of the 2nd slur in bar 29 in GE3 is undoubtedly an engraver's error.
