FE (→EE) has a only before the upper note of the third in the middle of the bar. The sign before c1 is completely unnecessary here, however, the undoubtedly necessary raising a to a is missing. AI has the correct text, the mistake was also corrected in GE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , GE revisions |

The slur of FE at the beginning of bar 24 (on the new line) very clearly indicates continuation of the preceding one and this is how it was understood in GE1 (→GE2). However, in EE it was the slur of FE in bar 23, ending on the last semiquaver, that was considered as correct. The separation of the slurs in GE3 (→GE4→GE5) is probably a mistake. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , Errors in GE , GE revisions |

In bars 21-26 the dynamic signs were not marked in AI. In bars 23-24, FE (→EE) has two separate signs, the second out of which (in bar 24) was, however, not included in GE, which can mean that Chopin added it in the last proofreading of FE. According to us, the melodically homogeneous context suggests that in bar 24 is to be understood as continuation of the previous one. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions , EE inaccuracies , Hairpins denoting continuation |

Each of the three source versions may correspond to Chopin's intention, yet at the same time in each of them there may be errors, as in the case of AI and FE and previous EE,s, or a foreign intervention, which most probably took place in GE and EE4. The e quaver is the original version and there is no doubt that it was then changed by Chopin to e. In the main text we suggest b-c1-e as the last chord in the R.H., emphasising that the sound of the topmost note is uncertain. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , GE revisions |
