AI has a g1 as the 11th semiquaver, otherwise written with a superfluous . Chopin had to then change it into a g1, which is featured in FE (→EE). The fact of not considering this change in GE – unless it is a common mistake of the engraver – may reveal that it was not introduced until the last proofreading of FE. In GE4 (→GE5) the was deleted, unnecessary in the version with g1 (together with the equally superfluous before a1 on the penultimate semiquaver). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 10 No 4, Etude in C♯ minor

Lack of accents in bar 27 in GE may be a result of an oversight or indicate to their addition in the last proofreading of FE (→EE). Four accents in bar 28 are clearly longer in GE1 (→GE1a) than in the remaining editions, see also the note to bars 29-30. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in GE , Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 10 No 4, Etude in C♯ minor

Lack of the slur in bar 30 in FE (→EE2,GE1→GE1a) must be regarded an inaccuracy, presumably an oversight of the engraver – slurs encompass remaining similar motives in the discussed bars. The lack of the 2nd slur in bar 29 in GE3 is undoubtedly an engraver's error. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , Errors in GE , GE revisions |

A sharp erroneously placed in GE1 before g1 was substituted in GE1a (→GE2) by confirming b1 in this chord. It was probably an engraver's mistake while moving before the middle note of the chord which seems natural in this context. The reviser of GE3 "corrected" this unnaturally sounding chord, by changing its topmost note, although in this case too, one cannot exclude the engraver's error. The erroneous accidental was not corrected until GE4 (→GE5). The missing in EE2 is clearly an oversight, corrected in EE3 (→EE4). The only correct version is the concurrent text of AI and FE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE , Errors resulting from corrections , Errors in GE , GE revisions |
