In GC (→GE) the breath in the slur was moved to the turn of bars 6 and 7, due to inaccurate notation of GC. The continuous slur in FE and EE is also most easily attributed to an inaccurate interpretation of A, although the coincidence of two editions is puzzling here. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies , Inaccuracies in GC |

Nothing indicates that the continuous slur in GC (→GE) and EE corresponds to Chopin's intention. However, the range of the slur that ends in this bar is open to question in A. In the editors' opinion Chopin probably meant a slur encompassing the whole first half of the bar, and not only reaching the first note in the upper voice – see slurs in similar context in bars 38 and 40. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Inaccurate slurs in A , EE inaccuracies , Inaccuracies in GC |

It is puzzling why all sources based on A have a continuous slur in the L.H. despite two clearly separate slurs in A itself. It is even more striking with an analogous situation taking place in bars 20 and 22 too. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies , Inaccuracies in GC |

In all sources except for A, the slurs of the L.H. are not separated in these bars. Presumably, both the copyist and the engravers considered the gaps to be an inaccuracy of the slurs' links in A, especially that the slurs of the R.H. were actually extended in these places. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies , Inaccuracies in GC |
