Issues : Authentic corrections of GE
b. 139-140
|
composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major
..
The version of FE without the hold of the e-c1 sixth is earlier – in FEG (→GE) Chopin added the ties and a crotchet at the beginning of bar 140. An identical addition was most probably performed by him in the base text to EE. Due to this fact we adopt it to the main text. However, it should be mentioned that while proofreading the slurring of this phrase in FE1, Chopin ended the slur in bar 139 and did not add the hold of this sixth. Hence, the version of FE1 cannot be considered as definitely rejected. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections of GE , Authentic corrections of EE |

b. 152-165

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major
..
The slurring in bars 159-164 is clearly incomplete in FE0, which may be a result of Chopin's inaccuracies in [A], errors of the engraver or both. Chopin then changed and completed the slurs in FEG, the base text to EE and proofreading of FE1, yet in all of them differently. In total, it gives three different authentic slurring versions. In the main text we give the version written by Chopin's hand in FEG (→GE1), as in the case of FE and EE, there is a slight possibility that Chopin proofreading was overlaid with certain mistakes, manners or revisions of the engravers. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FE , Authentic corrections of GE , Authentic corrections of EE |

b. 216-217
|
composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

The placement of crescendo differs slightly in particular sources. In FEG Chopin added cresc. under the last quaver in bar 216, and this is how it was reproduced by the engraver of GE1. In the next editions, GE2 (→GE3), the indication was moved slightly to the left, starting on the last quaver in bar 216. In EE the word crescendo was divided into syllables, which is a characteristic revision of the editor, and it was started at the end of bar 216. In the main text we adopt the indication of FE1, beginning in bar 217. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE , Authentic corrections of GE , Authentic corrections of EE |
