L.H. long accents in A, interpretation

R.H. long accents in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Different accents in GE3 (→GE4)

..

The assignment of the accents either to the right or left hand is unclear in A. According to us, the signs refer to the L.H., as in bar 29. In GE3 (→GE4), the 2nd sign was shortened to the form of a common accent.

No sign in FE (→GE,EE)

..

In the main text we do not consider the  mark, written in A under the part of the L.H. The mark was omitted in FE (→GE,EE), probably by mistake, yet Chopin added a long accent over the a quaver in a proofreading of FE, which, according to us, should be treated as a replacement of the hairpins of A.

Accent on a proposed by the editors

..

The long accent was added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). However, the mark was printed under the part of the R.H., which is almost certainly a misunderstanding.

Long accent in A

FE (→#Wn1,EE)

Short accent in GE2 (→GE3GE4)

..

The long accent, written in A over the 3rd semiquaver in the R.H., was placed between the staves in FE (→GE1,EE, in the latter rather a short accent), so it can be interpreted as referring to both parts of the hands or only to the L.H. In GE2 (→GE3GE4) the mark was changed to a short accent, clearly referring to the minim. In the main text we give the accent between the staves modelled on FE, which in a certain manner previews the accents in the following bars.
