In bar 32 Chopin changed the notation of the 6th note and perhaps also the pitch of the last one. The 6th note is written in A as f1, while before f2 in the next chord there is a cautionary . Allegedly, the last semiquaver was also supposed to be f1, which is, in turn, revealed by the cautionary before f1 at the beginning of bar 33. Eventually, Chopin added a before the final note in bar 32 in A, changing it to f1. In a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE) the notation of the 6th note was changed to g1 and the already unnecessary before f2 was removed. In FE (→EE2→EE3) the accidental before the last note in bar 32 was also deleted, however, the remaining traces suggest that it was a and not a , which is confirmed by f1 featured in this place in GE (and EE4). In this situation it is unknown whether f1 in the review copy of FE was a result of the engraver's mistake or perhaps of Chopin's "transitional" correction who would thereby return to the original concept only to reject it again (yet introducing a melodic move of the semiquaver voice in bars 28-29). In any case, the version of finished FE must be considered as the final one, particularly taking into account the fact that it does not differ from the version of A, as far as the sound is concerned. Therefore, in the main text we give the notation of FE, in which we correct the notation of the 1st chord in bar 33 by changing the unjustified in this version cautionary before f1 to a before a1.
