b. 45-46

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

Slur in A

Inaccurate slur in FE (→GE1)

Slur in GE2 & EE

No slur in GE3 (→GE4GE5)

Our suggestion

..

In the sources of undeniable authenticity – A and FE – the slur is inaccurately written. In both sources it generally includes bar 46, yet in A it most probably reaches the 1st quaver in bar 47, while in FE (→GE1) it suggests a continuation from bar 45 (written in the previous line). In GE2 and EE the sign of FE was repeated, shortening its left end to avoid the notation's inaccuracy. In the main text we propose a slur embracing the entire phrase.

b. 48

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No sign in A (→FEGE1,EE2)

 in GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5) & EE3 (→EE4)

Our suggestion

..

In FE (→GE1,EE2) lack of the pedal release mark of the pedal depressed in bar 47 should be considered as an inaccuracy. In GE2 and subsequent GE,s, as well as in EE3 (→EE4) a  mark was added at the end of bar 48, which seems to be a reasonable suggestion if we take into consideration authentic indications in bars 45-46.

b. 50-54

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No pedalling in A

Pedalling in FE (→GE1)

Our suggestion

GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5) & EE

..

The pedal marks in bars 50 and 54 were added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE1). Lack of  in bar 54 seems to be a result of an oversight, therefore, we add it under the 2nd quaver (the main text, after the pedalling of FE in bar 6) or under the 3rd quaver (an alternative suggestion, based on the pedalling of FE in bar 14 and adopted in bar 54 already in EE and subsequent GE,s).

Accent in EE

Dots in GE4 (→GE5)

Long accent proposed by the editors

..

We suggest to add an accent under the 2nd quaver in the bar after Chopin's indications in analogous bars 4 and 12. The accent was also added in EE3 (→EE4) and in GE4 (→GE5) both chords were provided with staccato dots (both revisions correspond to the additions introduced in bar 12).

b. 55-56

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No indication in A

in GE & EE

..

Chopin added the cresc. indication in a proofreading of FE. Both in GE and in EE the word crescendo was divided into syllables.
