In the subsequent bars the slurring and articulation of semiquavers were changed by Chopin. Certain details of the intended result of these changes are not clear, while one of the possible interpretations assumes the slur to be shortened. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Editorial revisions |

In the main text we give the articulation (slurs, without staccato sign) in the 1st half of the bar on the basis of FE, which was probably proofread by Chopin. The reason why the earlier start of the slur (from the 1st note) introduced in this edition was reproduced neither in GE nor in EE remains a mystery. An alternative suggestion with a shortened slur in the 2nd half of bar 23 refers to analogous slurs of FE in bars 24-25. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies , Authentic corrections of FE |
