Slurs
b. 1-5

composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

The slurs in Ap seem to be fragmented and their task is probably only to remind of the legato articulation. Anyway, Chopin did not determine the phrasing here in the version prepared for printing. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Inaccurate slurs in A |

In one of later proofreadings of FE (→GE,EE), Chopin added the slur combining f and e (it is absent in FEcor). Similarly in bars 12 and 39. In Ap the slur is present only in bar 4. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor

The slur over the chords is in Ap, Chopin wrote it also in FEcor, however in finished FE (→EE) the sign was omitted, probably due to an overlap of a few Chopin's entries in this place. It is unclear how the slur appeared in GE; probably it is an accurate revision of the editor, e.g., on the basis of comparison with bar 44 (see also the remark in the next bar). In EE3 (→EE4) the slur was added under the chords, which is certainly an arbitrary revision. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in FE , GE revisions |

b. 18
|
composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor
..
The slur written by Chopin in FEcor is the only one featured in the part of the R.H. in the published version of the Etude (overlooked in GE5). In Ap there are many more slurs, e.g., the slur in this bar opens a five-bar fragment provided with slurs. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccurate slurs in A |
