The fifth on the 3rd beat of the bar in CLI is probably the original version. The sources also reflect Chopin's hesitation concerning the position of the cautionary  before c1. In the main text we adopt – following FE (→EE2EE3) – the accidental before the chord on the 3rd beat of the bar.

Our suggestion

..

In the version prepared for printing Chopin did not use the dynamic hairpins he wrote in Ap (also in the next bar). In one of the last proofreadings of FE (→GE,EE) he, however, added a verbal indication. In the main text we suggest to extend the marked range of the indication, as there is no doubt that crescendo leads to  in bar 43.

The version of CLI without the Neapolitan chord was changed by Chopin in Ap, yet not in the base text for FE (differently as in analogous bar 17). Only in FEcor Chopin added the flats lowering b to b and b1 to b1, yet both accidentals were put on the 2nd beat of the bar, as if bwas still supposed to be in the 1st chord. It was probably a mistake, as in one of the subsequent proofreadings Chopin added a  also at the beginning of the bar (the unnecessary  on the 2nd beat of the bar was removed only in GE3 and subsequent GE,s).

The sources differ in the number of octaves written in an abbreviated form with the use of 8: three in CLI, the 2nd and 3rd in Ap, 3rd in FE. Both in GE and EE the use of abbreviations was totally rejected.

The dim. indication in Ap appears together with a change of articulation of the lower voice in the R.H. marked in this manuscript.
In GE a longer form of the abbreviation was used: dimin.
