Long accents in Ap

..

In Ap long accents on the 4th beat of bars 20 and 22 seem to be significantly related to the rhythmic values – both in the L.H. and in the lower voice of the right one the autograph features crotchets.

Long accents in FEcor

Short accents in FE (→GE,EE

..

The clearly long accents, written by Chopin in FEcor, were recreated in FE (→GE,EE) as short ones. Ap has even characteristic  marks before the accents, which are typical for this autograph. In the version for printing Chopin did not use any of them.

and the accents of Ap (also these on the 2nd beat of both bars) highlight the accentuation suggested by the slurs in the L.H., which are also present in FE (→GE,EE). It is unclear how significant the differences in the accents' size and placement of  marks are. We assume that the latter concern rather the L.H., which stems from the notation of bar 28, and we give the accents preserving the length difference. In FEcor one can see here a printed, yet deleted by Chopin,  mark. It may be a remnant of a possible  included in the handwritten base text.

Accents in Ap

..

It is not clear whether the accents in Ap are supposed to concern both hands or only the octaves in the L.H. We also conserve the significant difference in the accents' length, although its meaning is unclear. The signs – also those on the 4th beat of the bar – are not included in FE (→GE,EE), in which Chopin decided to mark a broader dynamic change.

Long accent in FEcor

 hairpin in FE (→GE,EE

..

The unequivocal long accent, written by Chopin in FEcor, was erroneously recreated as a diminuendo mark in FE (→GE,EE). Although the  hairpins are also in Ap, there is no  at the beginning of bar 30 there.
