Slurs
b. 19-22
|
composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor
..
In Ap there are four slurs, one in each bar. As it seems that some of the slurs in this manuscript may include fragments (endings) in which the quill pen did not leave a mark on the paper (or perhaps they are imperceptible in the available photographs), their exact range is uncertain. According to us, it cannot be excluded that in Chopin's intention each pair of slurs in bars 19-20 and 21-22 was supposed to merge in one two-bar-long slur. category imprint: Differences between sources |

b. 24-25
|
composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor
..
The range of the slur in the R.H., written by Chopin in FEcor, is unclear – the sign seems to be too long to be a slur embracing only two octaves, as it was recreated in FE (→GE,EE). Due to this fact, in the main text we give the unequivocal slur of Ap. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 25-26
|
composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor
..
We do not include the whole-bar-long slurs of Ap in the main text, being faithful to the version prepared by Chopin for printing. The second of the slurs is most probably miswritten (moved to the left). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccurate slurs in A |
