Issues : Inaccuracies in GE
b. 8-22

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

In the main text we unify the notation of the 2nd part of bars 8, 12 and 22 in line with the notation of FE1 in bar 8 and GE in bar 22 that is definitely correct and precise. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE |

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

The notation of GE, although perfectly correct, does not render Chopin’s intentions in this fragment, according to the editors. It is reflected by the notation in three analogous bars, bars 40, 44 and 48, in which both notes of the octave in the middle of the bar are connected with one stem. Moreover, the logic of leading the voices requires the stem to connect longer rhythmic values and not quavers (Cf. the remark concerning bars 8-22). Due to those circumstances, for the main text we propose a notation modelled on GE, modified on the basis of comparison with other similar fragments. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

The notation of FE and GE is certainly inaccurate, which was corrected by the reviser of EE. Similarly in bar 46. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE |

b. 39-50
|
composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

We preserve the layout of FE1, in which the slurs embracing the passages of the L.H. are over the notes, which certainly recreates the notation of [A1]. In FE2 and EE the slurs were moved under the notes, most probably due to graphic problems. Therefore, we can suppose that the slurs under the passages in GE also do not follow the authentic notation in [A2]. category imprint: Source & stylistic information issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies |

b. 42

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

In the main text we propose a more precise notation of the 2nd half of the bar, considering the elements of the most precise sources of notation in similar situations – FE1 in bar 8 and GE in bar 22. In the described bar, we propose to include both e2 and g2 into harmonic legato, as both of them subsequently appear in the chord at the beginning of bar 43. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Errors in FE , Inaccuracies in GE , Errors in EE |
