composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

Rhythmic notation in FE & GE

..

The notation of FE and GE is certainly inaccurate, which was corrected by the reviser of EE. Similarly in bar 38.

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

Rhythmic notation in FE

Our suggestion

..

The notation of the octave c2-c3 in FE and GE is certainly inaccurate, which was corrected by the reviser of EE. The extension of the sound of the quaver a2 is written only in GE. It was introduced by Chopin in [A2], certainly in order to make the notation more precise, therefore, we consider it in the main text.

FE1 and GE are lacking the  lowering dto d1. This patent inaccuracy was corrected in FE2 and EE. Moreover, in FE1 there are no naturals before two last quavers in the L.H.; the remaining sources have a correct text.

b. 70-74

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

Rhythmic notation in FE

Our suggestion

..

In the main text we make the notation of the 2nd half of bar 70 and 74 more precise, following the undoubtedly correct and precise notation of FE1 in bar 8 and GE in bar 22.

This and two similar remarks in subsequent lines (one per each line) concern the differences in the presence of accidentals. We have included all situations in which at least one of the sources differs from the others, but in which the presence or absence of the sign does not raise any doubts, as far as the correct sound is concerned.
