b. 18

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

 in FE (→EE)

..

The difference in pedalling may be connected with the different sounding of the penultimate note of the bar. However, just like in the case of the note - one must take into account the possibility of errors or inaccuracies of notation. In this particular case, the version of GE is more likely to be inaccurate, as whole-bar pedals are the most common pedalling variants in this edition and appear in all the adjacent bars. For that reason we adopt the more certain pedalling of FE (→EE) as the main text.

b. 20-21

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

 in FE1 (→EE) & GE

Two hairpins in FE2

..

In the main text we give the  mark stretching across one and a half bars, according to FE1 (→EE) and GE. The notation of FE2, although it meant the same in the context, can nonetheless be treated as an alternative version.

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

No tie in FE

tied in GE & EE

..

Lack of sustained B in FE is doubtless a mistake, as we can conclude from the presence of the tie in GE (and EE) and from analogous bars, e.g. 8-9 and 12-13.

b. 22

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

g1-a1 in FE (→EE)

a1-b1 in GE & FEJ

..

The fact that FE (→EE) have got a mistaken version here is testififed by the version of GE and a hand-written correction in FEJ.
