  b. 87-88

JC, interpretation

JC, other interpretation

EF & PE

In the version of EF and PE, Chopin introduces the repeated section of the Trio in a way, which smoothly combines the end of bar 87 with the literally repeated beginning of bar 52. We give this version in the main text. In JC, a different ending of bar 87 leads to an adequately adjusted version of bar 52 at the beginning of bar 88; however, the notation does not determine all details, particularly rhythmic ones, of the required modification. We propose two, according to us, most probable interpretations of this transition in the notation of JC.
