b. 497-525

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Slurs in EE and FE

Slurs in both hands in GE

..

In this part also - the last one of its kind in the passage of Scherzo - the beginning of slurs in GC raises doubts when it comes to intrerpreting Chopin's intentions. Already in GE, based on GC, the GC were never rewritten here in accordance with the noatation (while slurs for LH were added). In EE and FE the slurs always begin on quaver figurations (except for the obviously wrongly missing slur in EE in b. 521). In GC the endings of the discussed slurs are notated inaccurately: in bars 501, 509 and 517 the slurs end over the pause on the second beat of the bar.

b. 497

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In GC, the copyist omitted treble clef in this bar. This obvious mistake was corrected - penciled in - by the engraver or editor of GE.

b. 497

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In GC and FE1 there is no  lowering gto g2. This obvious mistake was corrected in GE and FE2. The accidental present in EE seems to be an editorial revision.

b. 505-509

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

Disregarding the first chord, in EE there is no  lowering all d to in different octaves. This was the exact copyist's notation of GC, however Chopin added five out of thirteen nevessary accidentals. The notation of FE and GE is completely correct.

b. 506-508

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

No  lowering g3 & g2 to g3 & g2 in EE, GC & FE

Naturals in GE

..

The version with g(in b. 506) and g2 (in b. 508) would be possible but for a broader harmonic context, and especially the E minor key in force here since b. 495. Therefore, there is no doubt that Chopin omitted naturals and the version of GE is correct.
