In this bar – exceptionally – A (→GE1→FE→EE) has 
under the 3rd crotchet of the bar. It is not clear whether we are dealing here with inaccurate notation, or whether Chopin indeed wanted the pedalling for that bar to differ slightly from the previous bars; therefore we retain the notation of A in our main text. The asterisk consistent with the prevailing pedalling pattern of A was introduced in GE2 (→GE3).
