In the sources, one can encounter a few variants of the Waltz's beginning:
- without upbeat in AR (it may be the earliest autograph) - in this manuscript, there is also an f(most likely) grace note written in pencil, which should be performed only in the repetition of the first section of the Waltz, i.e. after the 1st volta (like in AO)
- with upbeat in the remaining sources: with a tied cin AO, AK, AG (→CY), FEF and GEF; with a repeated cin PE and AE (→CX); with a repeated cand with an fgrace note in AE (the grace note written in pencil) and CC. In CC, the L.H. is not written in the upbeat.
