Slur from G1 to Fis in A, possible contextual interpretation |
In A there is a slur (a fragment of a slur?) over the L.H. quavers, running from the 3rd to the 6th quaver. The comparison with analogous bar 293 suggests that Chopin wanted to write here a slur of similar range, yet he did it inaccurately, restricted by the parts of both hands being written on one stave. It is also likely that he left the mark unfinished, as he considered that it was impossible to achieve the satisfying version; he could have also abandoned the slur, settling for the marcato indication. Due to the above, in the main text we do not include this slur, hence following GE (→FE,EE,IE). We suggest a slur modelled after bar 293 as an alternative solution.
See also bar 97.
