b. 20

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Separate slurs in A, literal reading

Continuous slur in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

The A slur cuts off after the 1st quaver in the bar; however, it is likely that Chopin wanted to combine the slurs. Therefore, the GE version (→FE,EE,IE) could be considered an equal variant.

b. 20

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Staccato dots in A

No marks in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

The three staccato dots are poorly visible in A, yet there is no doubt about their presence and significance. The absence of the marks in GE (→FE,EE,IE) is due to inadvertence of the engraver of GE.

Slur to d2 in A (literal reading→GEFE,EE,IE)

Slur to b. 24 in A, possible interpretation

..

In A the ending of the slur in bar 23 (at the end of the line) indicates that it should be continued, which is not confirmed by bar 24, in which there is no ending thereof. To the main text we adopt the interpretation of GE (→FE,EE,IE) due to  in bar 24, indicating the beginning of a new section – cf. bar 16.
