  b. 196-197

No slurs in A

Four-quaver slurs in GE (→FE,EE)

Various slurs in IE

In the main text we keep the A notation, devoid of slurs, since the performance manner of bar 196 is already obvious; however, the range of a possible slur in bar 197 could be questionable. The reviser of GE (→FE,EE) did not have such concerns, as he added four-quaver slurs in both bars. The slightly inaccurate ending of the latter one could have made IE prolong the slur in bar 197, as far as to the a1 crotchet, which, however, is not apparent at all in the GE notation.
