Slur in A, literal reading

Slur in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

When interpreted literally, the A slur is musically unjustified – it is almost certain that the slur should start earlier, yet Chopin wanted to avoid a clash with the already existing elements of notation, that is the bottom voice minim and the natural to e2. Similar inaccuracies occur in this movement on a number of occasions – cf. the note on bars 17-20. The end of the slur is also uncertain – we consider the interpretation adopted to GE (→FE,EE,IE) to be most accurate and suggest it as the main text.
