In A the first out of four 
marks in bars 85-86 and 89-90 is longer than the others. Taking into account both the harmonic scheme and the direction of the R.H. figuration, we have to agree with the engraver of GE, who considered it an inaccuracy. This interpretation is also confirmed by the statistical range of the dynamic hairpins in all 12 similarly built bars – in A 9 are half-bar long (differing by one quaver in one or the other direction), whereas only 3 are slightly longer (most clearly in bar 253 – see the note on that bar). The shorter FE (→EE) marks may have resulted from a combination of the inaccuracies by the copyist in [FC] and by the engraver.
