The absence of 
in FE (→EE) can be explained in many different ways, which we sort by likelihood (from most to least likely, according to us):
- the mark was overlooked by the copyist in [FC] or by the engraver of FE1;
- Chopin added it to A after [FC] had already been finished;
- the mark was removed by Chopin in [FC];
- Chopin removed it while proofreading FE1 (no visible traces of such a procedure).
In this situation, taking into account the first two possibilities and the authority of the principal source, we give directly in the main text.
