In A in bars 21-36 Chopin carefully provided all L.H. crotchets with staccato dots (except the last two ones in bar 36). GE reproduced these marks with one mistake – the dot for the 1st crotchet in bar 22 was overlooked. By contrast, FE and EE are much more deficient; there is no doubt that the oversights occurred for extra-musical reasons. Below is a list of the overlooked dots in particular editions (bar number/beat):
- in FE 22/1, 23/2, 24/1, 25/2, 25/4, entire bar 30, 32/1 and 35/4;
- EE1 repeated the FE version, adding a dot in 25/2; however, the following dots were additionally overlooked: 24/4, 31/2, 31/4, 32/4, 33/1, 35/4, 36/1;
- in EE2 the EE1 version was supplemented with a dot in 33/1; the dots in 26/4 and 34/4 were additionally overlooked.
