Pedalling

b. 105-106

composition: WN 29, Waltz in E minor

..

In all sources the only pedal marking in bars 105-106 is the  mark at the end of bar 106, which is a patent mistake. We consider the unquestionable pedal markings present the second time these bars appear to be the text of the sources. We suggest this version also in the main text.

b. 107-108

composition: WN 29, Waltz in E minor

in b. 107 & 108/132 in GE

..

The version of GE, in which the  mark is in bar 108/132, must be a mistake by the engraver. In the main text we give the text of PE.

Pedalling in sources

No markings in main text

..

As before, in the main text we omit the pedal markings present in these bars in the sources. It was the marks given in bars 9-19 that were repeated here, inaccurately, on top of that – see the notes on bars 115-118 and 119-120.

In PE, at the beginning of bar 115, there is a  mark, which is not followed by any pedal markings until the end of the line in bar 118. It is most probably a mistake, partially corrected in GE, in which a  was added under the 3rd crotchet in bar 115. As in bars 113-114, in the main text we omit the pedal markings here – see bars 17-24.

The pedalling of PE, with a  mark at the beginning of bar 120, although harmonically correct, is probably inaccurate, which is indicated by a comparison with analogous bars 15-16 and 47-48. The correction introduced in GE seems to be a compromise between the pedalling of the aforementioned bars and the markings of PE in the discussed bar. In the main text we omit pedal markings here, as before – see bars 17-24
