The lack of access to [A] makes it impossible to say whether and which of the source versions corresponds to Chopin's intention. Therefore, we regard them as equal, while in the main text we provide the version of the principal source (FC). Instead of the short accent in bar 101, which is present in FC (in Fontana's hand) and FE (→EE), Chopin entered into FC two long accents in bars 101 and 103 (deleting the Fontana accent in bar 101). We include this change in the main text. We consider both accents in GE to be short, although the one in bar 101 is slightly longer than the remaining ones on this page. The four long accents were added to FC by Chopin. In GE1 the first one was overlooked; it is also absent in GE2, in which the adjacent was removed too. It may mean that there was an attempt to add an accent, which required to be moved; however, the correction remained unfinished. As accents are also in FE, Chopin most probable wrote them there while proofreading this edition.
