b. 26

composition: Op. 30, Mazurka in D♭ major

Quavers in FC (→GE)

Dotted rhythm in FE (→EE)

..

None of the sources bears traces of changes here, which makes it impossible to determine its cause. A mistake seems more likely in FC – it is easier not to write a dot and a beam than to write them without any reason. However, this does not discredit the version of FC, since Chopin could have changed the rhythm in [A], reviewing it before handing it over to Fontana. In the main text we give the rhythm of FC, being the principal source; however, we regard the version of FE as equal.

b. 27

composition: Op. 30, Mazurka in D♭ major

..

In the main text we omit the Chopinesque  to g2, present in all sources, totally unjustified in this place. The same in bar 35.

b. 27-28

composition: Op. 30, Mazurka in D♭ major

No markings in FC (→GE)

Pedalling in FE (→EE)

..

The absence of pedalling in FC (→GE) could be caused by the same issue as the absence of the R.H. slur – distraction at the end of a page. Another possibility could be an oversight by Chopin, who was adding pedalling to FC – starting from bar 29, which opens a new page in FC, the pedal markings are written in Chopin's hand (to bar 39).

b. 30

composition: Op. 30, Mazurka in D♭ major

..

In FC Chopin deleted all three L.H. chords written by Fontana and replaced them with new ones. The reason was a mistake by the copyist, who wrote g as the bottom note of the chords thrice (instead of f).

b. 31-39

composition: Op. 30, Mazurka in D♭ major

..

In FC there are cautionary accidentals written in crayon to the last quaver in bars 31, 35 and 39 (a  to c2 and a  to d2). They come from the reviser of GE1, hence they were included in that edition. EE also include a natural in bar 31; in the main text we give all 3 accidentals.
