Rest in FC (→GE)

No rest in FE (→EE)

Completing the R.H. top voice with a rest on the 3rd beat in the bar is an example of ultra-correct notation, used by Chopin only exceptionally, and in this case even misleading – f1 in the last crotchet, belonging allegedly to the bottom voice, is actually a beginning of the next phrase in the top voice. In the main text we omit it, since it could have been added by Fontana or removed by Chopin in the proofreading of or in the basis for FE.
A similar situation is present in bar 56.
