Issues : Terzverschreibung error

b. 19

composition: WN 55, Waltz in F minor

..

The incidental d1 note in CC - compared to the b note in the remaining sources - may be considered an oversight of the copyist, one of the examples of the Terzverschreibung error.

b. 20

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

c2 in chord in A, FE (→EE) & GE2

a1 in chord in GE1

..

The version of GE1 is certainly erroneous: it is most probably a revised Terzverschreibung error, by adding a . Chopin restored the chord with c2, written in A, in a proofreading of FE (→EE). At the time of executing this proofreading, a superfluous  was moved together with the note head.

b. 21

composition: Op. 28 No. 19, Prelude in E♭ major

..

The 5th R.H. quaver in GE1 is an erroneous a1 instead of f1. The mistake was rectified in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 21

composition: Op. 28 No. 17, Prelude in A♭ major

..

In GE the top notes of the 3rd and 4th quavers were misplaced, i.e. a third too low (3rd quaver, g-b-d1) or too high (4th quaver, g-f1-a1 when interpreted literally). In the manuscripts and GE those notes are placed on the top stave, among the R.H. quavers, which significantly hampers their interpretation.

b. 22

composition: Op. 10 No 1, Etude in C major

..

CLI has bas the 4th semiquaver in the R.H., which results from the logic of the figuration's structure. In FE1 there is a d3, put here by mistake and corrected by Chopin in a proofreading of FE2 (→EE) for b2. The erroneous note must have initially been present also in GE1, which is confirmed by visible traces of its deletion, however, eventually GE1 and all subsequent editions of GE also feature b2.
