Placing the  sign only under the 4th demisemiquaver, as it is in A, is musically inexplicable. It is, according to us, related to the lack of space to write the indication at the beginning of the roulade or to the manner of placing indications in the middle of their scope of validity (and not at the beginning), sometimes used by Chopin. Taking that into account, in the main text we move the sign to the beginning of the 2nd half of the bar; a similar interpretation was performed in GE2. (In GE1 (→FE) the placement of the sign was reproduced slightly inaccurately, by shifting it a demisemiquaver to the left, which was changed in EE, probably by accident. We do not reproduce these differences, devoid of practical meaning, in the transcriptions).

It is uncertain why  written in A was not included in FE (→GE,EE). Lack of the traces of a possible deletion of the mark allows to assume its omission by the engraver, e.g., in relation to lack of space between the staves. Due to this fact, in the main text we suggest a variant solution. At the same time, we move the indication to the beginning of the bar, as the way it is written in A suggests that it concerns the entire chordal ending of the Etude. This conclusion, as well as the very need for a dynamic indication in this place, is confirmed by Chopin's entry in FED

at the beginning of the octave run certainly corresponds to a performance intended by Chopin. The notation of A is an instance of Chopin's using a convention of placing indications inside, and not at the beginning of the range in which they apply.

The placement of the  sign in A is almost certainly an example of the manner of placing indications within and not at the beginning of their scope of validity, sometimes used by Chopin  – cf. e.g. 1st mov., bar 329. This is how it was interpreted already in GE1 (→FEEE, →GE2).
