b. 15

composition: Op. 28 No. 12, Prelude in G♯ minor

..

The bottom note of the R.H. bottom voice on the 2nd crotchet is written too low in FC, as a result of which in GE1 it was interpreted as an e1. The patent mistake was corrected in GE2 (→GE3).

b. 15

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

The  restoring b1 in the 2nd half of the bar is absent in all sources. It must be Chopin's mistake, one of his most frequent errors.

b. 16

composition: Op. 28 No. 13, Prelude in F♯ major

..

The inaccurately written (too low) 1st quaver in the 2nd half of the bar looks like F in A, and it was reproduced as such in FC (→GE1). The fact that Chopin must have meant G is evidenced both by the harmonic context (confirmed by analogous b. 32) and the common Chopinesque manner of writing notes under the 1st line clearly lower and so that they do not touch the line. The mistake of GE1 was corrected in GE2 (→GE3).

b1 in sources, contextual interpretation

a1 suggested by the editors

..

In all sources, the 3rd demisemiquaver in the 2nd group is a b1 (literal interpretation). It is the initial uncorrected version, left by inadvertence – in A, initially, the 3rd demisemiquaver in the first two figures of each of b. 15-18 was a b1, which Chopin then changed to a1 in 7 out of 8 places. Such an oversight in correcting one of a few analogous places would happen to Chopin on a few occasions. The fact that he forgot the discussed note while performing corrections is also evidenced by it having been left without a , which was before the respective note of the 1st group of the bar in the initial version.

b. 17-20

composition: Op. 28 No. 19, Prelude in E♭ major

..

In A (→FC,FE) there are no flats lowering D to D in b. 17, g to g in b. 18 and 20 and d2 to d2 in b. 18. Some of them were added in GE (only both in b. 18) and EE1 (all in the L.H.); however, it is only EE2 that contains the correct text.
