Issues : Terzverschreibung error

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

a, our alternative suggestion

..

In the main text, we keep the version of FE (→GE,EE), despite the fact that a comparison with analogous bar 75 and 237 suggests a Terzverschreibung mistake on the 3rd quaver of the bar – in the printed version, the doubled leading note contributes to latent parallel f-f1 ⇒ g-g1 octaves at the moment of resolution. A Terzverschreibung mistake belongs to the most frequently committed pitch errors  – cf. e.g. bar 290 and 308 of this movement of the Concerto or bar 73 and 108 of the second movement).

b. 591

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

c3-g3 in EE, FE & GE2

 c3-e3 in GC (→GE1

..

The c3-e3 third in GC (→GE1) is musically correct, however, c3-g3 in EE and FE seems more justifed pianistically and thus may suggest the copyist's error. And the unjustified  before the upper note of the dyed - before e- must certainly be  an error. It was rightly corrected in GE2, perhaps when compared with FE.

The traces of proofreading prove that in FE the originally printed 5th quaver was a d1.

b. 639

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

g2 in FE (→EE)

b2 in GE

..

The b2 note, featured in GE as the 4th quaver of the bottom voice, is either the original version or, which is much more likely considering analogous bar 623 and 627, a Terzverschreibung error. The traces of proofreading visible in FE prove that the version was initially present also in this edition, but it was changed in the last phase of proofreading.
