Issues : Errors in FE

b. 667-670

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE, the middle notes of the tremolando that double the trill are devoid of extending dots. The inaccuracy was corrected in the remaining editions.

b. 670

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

The 2nd minim in the notation of the tremolando in FE is only the a2-b2 second. The missing f3 is a patent mistake – cf. previous bars – corrected in GE and EE.

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

Slur in A

No slur in FC (→GE) & FE (→EE)

..

The discussed bars are an exact repetition of b. 227-228. The slur written there in A over the b-a motif was not repeated in derivative sources, both there and here. See also b. 95-96.

a2 in chord in A (→FCGE)

No a2 in chord in FE (→EE)

The version of FE must be a result of an overlooked note by the engraver, who was less careful this time (analogous b. 233 was reproduced correctly in FE, on the basis of the same notation of A).

The version of FE is almost certainly erroneous, in spite of the fact that it was proofread; originally, in FE this bar was identical to the next one, yet it was only the 3rd note that was corrected, perhaps due to misunderstanding Chopin's proof entry or due to an incomplete implementation of the proofreading. EE repeated the version of FE from before proofreading, which, unless it is an extraordinary coincidence, means that it was a change introduced in the last phase of proofreading.
