composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

The interpretation of accents in A is particularly difficult in that bar, as neither the graphic analysis nor the stylistic one provide convincing arguments for considering them as long or short. It can only be stated that it most probably concerns 2 identical accents. GE and FE have short accents, while the second one is under the G note. EE has a vertical accent, only on the last note. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Vertical accents |

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major
..
In A Chopin wrote the accent between the pentagrams. In GE1 Chopin's intention was recreated erroneously, moving the accent over the note. GE2 (→GE3→GE4) returns to Chopin's notation. EE has a vertical accent here, which is certainly an editorial revision. In FE the accent's sign was omitted. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Vertical accents |
