Separating the tenor voice must have been an arbitrary decision introduced in EL. According to us, it is likely that the author thereof was Kolberg, who added similar short motifs in the middle section of the Lento (b. 35-36 and 39-40). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Kolberg's revisions , Revisions in EL |

The compliance between CJ and CK allows us to believe that the hairpin before the penultimate triplet reproduced the notation of [A2]. Nevertheless, in the main text we slightly extend this mark after analogous b. 48 – in this context, a diminuendo naturally leads us to the final note of the run, and the notation of the autograph could have been inaccurate. This idea was fully implemented in EL, most probably also on the basis of comparison with b. 48. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Scope of dynamic hairpins , Balakirev's revisions , Revisions in EL |

None of the six necessary naturals lowering d2(1) to d2(1) are present in CJ and CK, which is a striking example of overlooked accidentals of a current key. This is even more of anomaly given that the first two R.H. naturals are written in A1. CB and EL contain the correct text. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Omission of current key accidentals , Balakirev's revisions , Revisions in EL |

The clear accent in CK allows us to consider the longer mark in CJ a long accent, which we give in the main text. In CB and EL the mark was reproduced as a short diminuendo hairpin.
