Slur over L.H. in GC (→GE)

Unfinished slur in FE

Slur from 2nd beat in EE

Completion of slur in FE suggested by the editors

..

The slur of GC (→GE) includes only this part of the five-bar-long melodic passage whose performance Chopin assigned to the left hand. It is certainly an inaccuracy, perhaps repeated after [A] (the original version?). In turn, a respective slur in FE is broken at the end of the text's line and most probably it was supposed to be led to the end of the phrase (Chopin could have extended it in [A] already after having prepared GC). There is no doubt it is necessary to embrace the entire passage with a slur, if we take into consideration the authentic slurring of analogous phrases. Both possibilities of starting the slur – from the first or second beat of bar 164 – can be considered to be equal.

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

FE has no  restoring f on the last crotchet. The mistake went unnoticed in consecutive corrections of FE, as well as in pupils' copies. However, it cannot be ruled out that the sign added in EE was indicated by the composer.

b. 173

composition: Op. 42, Waltz in A♭ major

d1-e1 in FE (→FEGGE1)

d1-e1-g1 in EE & GE2 (→GE3)

..

The d1-e1 second featured in FE and GE1 is the original version, which is proven by the comparison with the remaining four analogous places in bars 49, 81, 113 and 269. In three out of five places Chopin added to it a gnote in FEG (→GE). In EE the completed version with the d1-e1-g1 chord is in all five places, which also proves Chopin's proofreading. Therefore, the fact of leaving the original version of the discussed bar in FE and GE1 must be considered as Chopin's oversight.
