Ending of the middle part in AI

Longer ending in A (→GE)

Tied c2 in FE (→EE)

The new redaction of the notes c2 halting the course of the Mazurka creates one of the major differences between the earlier AI version and the final one notated in A (→GEFEEE). In A there is no tie to c2 in the R.H. in bars 20-21. This may be the result of Chopin's oversight or hesitation: the tie is present in that place, both in the earlier A and Iater FE (→EE), corrected by the composer. Moreover, in A Chopin used neither the ritenuto nor diminuendo hairpins, and he moved the pause towards the end of that fragment. He also made the notation of bar 20 in A more precise, adding the crotchet rest that had not been present in AI.
