Issues : Rhythmic errors
b. 268
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
The triplets in the 2nd half of the bar are written in A (→GE1→FE,EE) as demisemiquavers instead of semiquavers. The mistake was corrected by GE2 (→GE3,FESB). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Rhythmic errors , Errors of A , Errors repeated in GE , Errors repeated in FE , Errors repeated in EE |

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

The second note in the L.H. part in AsI, A (→GE→FE) and EE3 is a dotted quaver, as a result of which the bar is a semiquaver too short. In the full, orchestral version of this tutti, the cello (and bassoon) phrase starts from the beginning of the bar with a dotted crotchet, which could have suggested to Chopin that it was also in the version for one piano, after shifting the beginning to the 2nd quaver, that the new value should be dotted. The mistake, easy to detect, was noticed and corrected only by FESB. By contrast, in EE1 (→EE2) the dot prolonging this note was left out – it could have been a failed attempt at correcting this mistake. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in EE , Rhythmic errors , Errors of A , Errors repeated in GE , Errors repeated in FE , Revisions in FESB |

b. 294-295
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III
..
In the main text, we correct the minor inaccuracy of the notation of the rhythm in FE (→EE). The missing dot prolonging the e1 quaver in bar 294 could have also contributed to the omission of the tie of that note in GE, although, according to us, it is more likely that the tie was added by Chopin in the last stage of proofreading of FE. The crossing-out of the e1 quaver at the beginning of bar 295 visible in FEH emphasises that the note should not be played again in this place. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions; Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: Annotations in teaching copies , Inaccuracies in FE , Rhythmic errors , Accompaniment changes , Authentic corrections of FE , Annotations in FEH |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

In GE1, the quaver flag next to the first chord (after the grace note) was overlooked. This patent mistake was corrected already in GE2 (→GE3). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions , Rhythmic errors |

b. 305

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

The rhythm of A (→GE→EE,FESB) is almost certainly erroneous, which is evidenced by the long accent, certainly referring to the note held slightly longer (with a dot). Chopin corrected his mistake while proofreading FE1 (→FE2); the correct version is also in AsI. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Rhythmic errors , Errors of A , Authentic corrections of FE |
