b. 321-322

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In A there are no accidentals to the last semiquaver on each beat of the bar – Chopin considered the accidentals written to the earlier notes placed an octave lower to be valid (AsI is slightly more accurate, since it includes a  to c2 in bar 321). In GE1 (→FE,EE) these accidentals were added only just starting from g2, the last semiquaver in bar 321. In GE2 (→FESB) a  to e2 was also added, while in GE3 also a  to c2.
In the main text we give all the omitted accidentals and omit the unnecessarily repeated  to f2 at the beginning of the last R.H. triplet.
There is a similar situation in bars 324-325 and 327-328.

In GE1 (→FE1,EE1EE2) there are no accidentals to the fifth on the 2nd quaver in the bar, which would result in B-f. The oversight was corrected in GE2 (→GE3,FESB), FE2 and EE3.

In GE (→FE,EE) the e1 crotchet is provided with two augmentation dots, which could have been caused by the spot in A, resembling a second dot. It must be a mistake, since this e1 note is continued by the d1 quaver, falling on the 4th quaver in the bar. In FESB this note was placed on one stem with the g1 quaver, which changed its value to a double dotted quaver. It was probably an attempt at correcting the excessive rhythmic value of this note.

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

In all sources the bass f is provided with a wrong rhythmic value – a minim in AsI and a dotted minim in A (→GEFE,EE). The mistake could have resulted from copying the notation of the bassoon II part, in which this note is played from the beginning of the bar and is provided with such a value – a minim in AsI and a dotted minim in GEork (→FEork). In the main text we give the correct value, written down in accordance with the division of the beams of the bottom voice on the top stave in A.
