b. 299
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
In the main text we add cautionary naturals to g1, a1 in the R.H. and to a, A in the L.H. AsI contains two of them, before a1 and A, while to a was also added by FE1 (→FE2) and EE3. All the aforementioned accidentals are present in GE3. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 301
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
The cautionary natural specifying the sound of the 2nd semiquaver was added in the stage of proofreading FE1 (→FE2), probably at Chopin's request. It is worth noting that it was only in the editions that a clear need for this accidental manifested itself, in which the last semiquaver in the previous bar is provided with a flat – in A there is no accidental to any of these notes. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 321-322
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
In A there are no accidentals to the last semiquaver on each beat of the bar – Chopin considered the accidentals written to the earlier notes placed an octave lower to be valid (AsI is slightly more accurate, since it includes a to c2 in bar 321). In GE1 (→FE,EE) these accidentals were added only just starting from g2, the last semiquaver in bar 321. In GE2 (→FESB) a to e2 was also added, while in GE3 also a to c2. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Accidentals in different octaves , GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Inaccuracies in A , Errors repeated in GE , Errors repeated in FE , Errors repeated in EE |

b. 321
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
In the main text we omit the (cautionary?), which in all sources except AsI was unnecessarily repeated to e, the last quaver in the L.H. bottom voice. category imprint: Editorial revisions issues: Cautionary accidentals |

b. 363-366
|
composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete
..
As before (bars 349-352), in A Chopin writes accidentals only to the top notes of the octaves (in the R.H. and in the L.H.). He then considers these accidentals to be valid throughout an entire bar in all octaves of a given stave. All the omitted accidentals – 27 flats to d and g and 2 naturals to e – were already added in GE1 and were repeated in the remaining editions. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Accidentals in different octaves , GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Inaccuracies in A |
