b. 135

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

2nd quaver without f2 in AsI & FE

Chord with f2 in A (→GEEE,FESB)

..

The version without f2, introduced – most probably by Chopin – at the stage of proofreading FE, is also a version that was entered into AsI, in which the note was also removed (deleted, like f in the L.H. on the same quaver). Therefore, if the correction to AsI preceded the preparation of A, we are dealing with Chopin's hesitation, who changed his mind on the presence of this note three times. Another possibility would be the initial version having been erroneously entered into A.

b. 135-139

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In AsI the alternative L.H. part (harmonic accompaniment) is not written out in these bars – Chopin started writing it only just from b. 140. Due to b. 136-141 having been written down with a repeat sign in AsI, the alternative part is also absent in b. 144-147.

b. 136

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

Triad in A (→GEEE,FESB)

Sixth in FE

..

In the main text we give the proofread – almost certainly by Chopin – version of FE, with a "lighter" sixth instead of a three-note chord. A similar situation is in b. 144 and 160.
In AsI the alternative version of the L.H. was not written out in this bar – see b. 135-139.
