b. 24

composition: Op. 28 No. 3, Prelude in G major

No arpeggio sign in FCI

Arpeggio for 3 notes in A (→FC,FEEE

2-note arpeggio in GE

..

The shorter arpeggio wavy line in GE is a mistake, although it is difficult to say whether it is a mere inaccuracy or a misunderstanding in the interpretation of the notation of FC.
The missing arpeggio sign in FCI – see b. 18 and 32-33.

b. 24-25

composition: Op. 28 No. 3, Prelude in G major

No fingering in FCI & A (→FE,FCGE)

..

The inauthentic fingering of EE most probably contains a mistake in b. 25 – it should be the 1st and not the 2nd finger on the 3rd semiquaver. The mistake was probably caused by transposing the "continental" notation (12345) to the English one (+1234).

composition: Op. 28 No. 3, Prelude in G major

In FCI c1 and d1 are dotted minims. It is probably an earlier version, although we cannot rule out an erroneous unification of the chord's rhythmic values by the copyist. See b. 16-25.

b. 27-30

composition: Op. 28 No. 3, Prelude in G major

2 times  in FCI

 & leggiero in A (→FE,FCGE) & EE2

in EE1

..

Instead of  present in the final version in b. 28, FCI features a  mark already in b. 27, which is then repeated in b. 30. As in many other places, Chopin reduced the number of dynamic indications while preparing the Prelude for print; in this case, however, he added leggiero to specify the  mark. In EE1 leggiero was most probably overlooked by the engraver, which was corrected in EE2, probably after having compared it with GE1

Fingering written into FED

Fingering in EE

..

In the main text we give a fingering written most probably by Chopin himself in FED. The fingering of EE starting from the 2nd beat of the bar could be combined with the Chopinesque entry; however, both Chopin and the reviser of EE had most probably a different fingering in mind:
Chopin – ,
EE      – .
