The shorter arpeggio wavy line in GE is a mistake, although it is difficult to say whether it is a mere inaccuracy or a misunderstanding in the interpretation of the notation of FC. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

b. 24-25

composition: Op. 28 No. 3, Prelude in G major
..
The inauthentic fingering of EE most probably contains a mistake in b. 25 – it should be the 1st and not the 2nd finger on the 3rd semiquaver. The mistake was probably caused by transposing the "continental" notation (12345) to the English one (+1234). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions |

In FCI c1 and d1 are dotted minims. It is probably an earlier version, although we cannot rule out an erroneous unification of the chord's rhythmic values by the copyist. See b. 16-25. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Accompaniment changes |

Instead of present in the final version in b. 28, FCI features a mark already in b. 27, which is then repeated in b. 30. As in many other places, Chopin reduced the number of dynamic indications while preparing the Prelude for print; in this case, however, he added leggiero to specify the mark. In EE1 leggiero was most probably overlooked by the engraver, which was corrected in EE2, probably after having compared it with GE1. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: EE revisions , Errors in EE |

In the main text we give a fingering written most probably by Chopin himself in FED. The fingering of EE starting from the 2nd beat of the bar could be combined with the Chopinesque entry; however, both Chopin and the reviser of EE had most probably a different fingering in mind: category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Annotations in teaching copies , EE revisions , Annotations in FED |
