The cresc. indications in b. 142 and 145 most probably come from [AG] (→GE). One could assume that in the autograph the indications were overlaid on a hairpin –  – a combination Chopin would willingly use.

It is difficult to say whether Chopin forwent the contrasting dynamic indications in b. 150 and 152-153 entered into AF (→FE→EE) while writing [AG] (→GE) or whether they were added later, after [AG] had already been written. Therefore, in the main text we leave it to the discretion of the performer whether to include them or not.

The  indication was added in FE in the last stage of proofreading. Without [AG] it is difficult to say whether the same was true of GE or whether Chopin wrote it already in the aforementioned autograph.
